The Dyson Airstrait is a revolutionary wet-to-dry straightener that dries and straightens hair simultaneously using only high-pressure airflow. Unlike traditional straighteners that rely on hot plates, the Airstrait uses powerful directional air to smooth and align hair without extreme heat damage.
The device features a 13-blade impeller powered by the Dyson Hyperdymium motor that spins at 106,000 rpm. This propels 11.9 liters of air per second through the machine generating 3.6kPa of air pressure that's powerful enough to straighten hair as it dries. Air is projected downward at a 45-degree angle to create the tension needed to align hair for a smooth finish with less damage and breakage.
Glass bead thermistors located in the device's arms regulate airflow temperature up to 30 times per second to prevent heat damage and protect natural shine. This intelligent temperature control helps maintain hair strength while reducing frizz and flyaways for a naturally straight style with volume.
The Airstrait offers two main modes. Wet mode provides three preset temperatures at 175°F, 230°F and 285°F to take hair from wet to finished style. You start by locking the arms to rough dry roots then unlock them to straighten damp hair in sections. Dry mode lets you touch up or refresh your style at 250°F or 285°F with an optional Boost mode for maximum impact.
Smart features include automatic airflow detection that senses when hair is between the arms and reduces airflow when it's not for quieter more efficient styling. After three seconds of inactivity the device automatically pauses airflow. An LCD color screen displays styling mode, airflow and temperature settings. The device enters auto-standby after five minutes of inactivity with arms open or three minutes with arms locked.
The Airstrait combines two steps into one which saves an average of 25% on styling time. Hair is left feeling soft, smooth and moisturized with natural movement and volume while maintaining strength and protecting shine.
